Kelvis. Alive and singing in Romford. To paraphrase the poem ‘Eccentricity’ by anonymous (included in the gallery below). This is an ongoing project I began in the summer of 2023. Kevin, or ‘Kelvis’ as he is known around Romford, sings on the market, every Saturday, every week of every month. He is raising money for Cancer research at the moment. He has an unstoppable compulsion to perform. He drags his boogie box up and down the market and serenades punters and vendors alike. He has redefined who he is. The project is about aging, identity and ego. As an exercise in discipline, discomfort and effort, and in chorus with the subject matter, it is shot on film.
